Remove Fresh paint From Brass Fittings

Remove Paint From Brass Fixtures. Make old brass fixtures with old peeling paint on them look brand new by removing the paint with white vinegar. Brighten up any room and make your cabinets and doors look like new.

Instructions

1. Take the brass fixtures off of the window or door.

2. Place a stainless steel pan on the burner of your stove.

3. Place the brass fixtures into the pan and pour white vinegar on top of the fixtures in the pan. Make sure that the white vinegar completely covers over the fixtures.

4. Turn on the burner on medium heat to bring the vinegar to boil. Once the vinegar is boiling, turn down the heat to simmer.

5. Remove the fixtures carefully after the paint starts to separate from the fixtures.

6. Wipe down the fixtures with triple-zero gauge steel wool while wearing rubber gloves to protect your hands. Get the hard-to-reach spots with toothpicks, a wire brush or anything else small and sharp. Rub the fixtures until all the paint is removed.

7. Polish your brass fixtures, if desired.
