Carry Out The Selftying Shoe lace

High-top shoes are ideal for performing the self tying shoelace trick.

The self tying shoelace is a fairly simple magic trick that was popularized by the famous magician David Blaine. The trick is a good choice for beginners to magic as it is a trick based on concealment and does not involve sleight of hand or any other of the more difficult elements of magic tricks. This trick can easily be used for street magic as it requires little preparation and equipment, yet dazzles the audience.

Instructions

1. Cut a length of thread the same length as your leg.

2. Tie one end of the thread to the middle of a spare shoelace and pull the other end of the thread up your trouser leg so that it hangs over your trouser waistband and the spare lace dangles out of the bottom of the trouser leg.

3. Put on a pair of lace up shoes and tie the laces.

4. Conceal the tied shoelaces with the bottom of your trouser leg. Pull the spare shoelace down so that it lies on either side of your shoe like an untied shoelace.

5. Shake your leg and pull the thread at your waistband up at the same time so that the spare shoelace is pulled up your trouser leg. Pull your trouser leg up slightly as the spare lace is pulled out of sight to shake the already tied shoelace free, making it seem like your lace has tied itself.
