Steps Towards The ""Boot Scootin' Boogie""

Many cowboys are probably proficient in the Boot Scootin' Boogie.


Boot Scootin' Boogie is a popular song by Brooks and Dunn; country music lovers often perform a line dance to the song at clubs. The Boot Scoot is a straight-forward dance, but it has many steps. Watching others and joining in is the best way to learn do the Boot Scootin' Boogie.


Basic Boot Scootin'


The basic boot scoot starts with putting your feet together. On the balls of your feet, twist them together to the left, then twist them together on your heels to the left. Twist on your heels back to the right, and twist on the balls of your feet to the right. This is boot scooting.


Steps and Kicks


After the boot scooting part of the dance, you'll take a step forward to the right and then to the left. You then kick with your left foot and then with your right foot. Take a step back to the left, and then to the right. Kick with the left foot, then with the right foot.


Slides


Slide to the right, leading with your hips, and slide back to the left.


Toe Touches


Kick with your left foot and touch your right hand to your left toe. Then kick with your right foot and touch your left hand to your right toe. Slide to the right twice and to the left twice.


Turn and Clap


Turn 90 degrees to the right and clap your hands to accomplish the Boot Scootin' Boogies' final move.
