Place Srt Format Subtitles

SRT (Sub-Rip) files provide text-based subtitles for videos that use the Audio/Video Interleaved (AVI) file format. Windows Media Player does not include built-in support for SRT files. You can install an add-on called DirectVobSub to get SRT file support in Windows Media Player. DirectVobSub is available on the Free-Codecs website.

Instructions

1. Download DirectVobSub from Free-Codecs.com. If you are using Windows 7, download the 64-bit version of DirectVobSub.

2. Right-click the downloaded ZIP file and click "Extract All."

3. Double-click the executable setup file inside the extracted folder and follow the on-screen instructions to install DirectVobSub.

4. Copy the SRT file into the AVI video folder.

5. Change the name of the SRT file to the name of the AVI file.

6. Open the video in Windows Media Player by double-clicking the AVI file.

7. Click the "Pause" button.

8. Press the Ctrl, Shift and C keys together to insert SRT subtitles into the video.

9. Press the "Play" button to play the video.
