Bauhaus Software's Mirage software focuses on 2-D animation.
Instead of entering the crowded 3-D animation program market, Bauhaus Software's Mirage focuses on 2-D and traditional hand drawn animation. The user interface is simple enough, with the image in the center, the main menu bar down the right side of the screen and other options available as needed. As with other animation programs, image creation can be controlled through a mouse, trackpad or electronic pen and tablet as the user dictates. Brushes and textures focus on created bitmap-based two-dimensional images.
Instructions
1. Select the type of brush you wish to use. There are 10 types of brushes available with Mirage including "Pen," "Mechanical Pencil," "Oil Brush," "Pencil," "Wet Brush" and "Custom." Lines created will depend on the type of brush as well as the texture.
2. Select the size of the brush. This option, located on the right side menu below the different types of brushes, dictates the thickness of each brush stroke.
3. Select the color of the brush. Mirage offers five color palettes, but unfortunately only one may be selected at a time. This means that if you wish to use a different palette, you must close the present one, open the new one and select the color again.
4. Select any other options as needed; options include textures and line edges.
5. Draw a line onto the canvas using the mouse, trackpad, electronic pen or other digital input device as needed.
