Mount A Print

Mounting a print is the final step in printmaking. There are several ways to mount a print. Follow the easy steps below to mount your print in just a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn on mounting press and preheat it to between 180 degrees to 210 degrees Fahrenheit to mount a print on RC paper. Turn on the tracking iron to preheat, too.

2. Put the mounting board in the press for 30 seconds to remove moisture from it.

3. Clean the print with a soft cloth and make sure everything else used is dirt free.

4. Place the print face down on a clean, flat surface with mounting tissue on top, and use the preheated tacking iron to tack the tissue to the print on all four sides.

5. Use a metal straightedge and mat knife to trim the print and the tissue flush to size.

6. Position the print and the tissue face up on the mounting board, using a soft cloth to protect the print from your fingers. Lift the corners of the print and tack tissue to the board a the corners.

7. Place the board, print, and cover sheet into the heated press for 30-45 seconds.

8. Pull the mounted print out of the press and apply pressure to the cover sheet so the edges don't curl up as it cools.
