Making a Halo MC helmet is a creative way to express your allegiance to the survival of planet Earth. Selling over five billion copies, Halo is a video game in which the player takes on adventures as a one-man army in the form of Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, according to IGN Games. Petty Officer John-117's MC helmet and uniform protect him as he battles to save Earth from aliens. Craft your helmet to wear at costume parties or during reenactments of scenes from your favorite moments in the game.
Instructions
1. Find an old motorbike or hockey helmet to act as the outer shell of your MC Halo headgear. Remove the hockey mask, if you are using a hockey helmet. Choose a motorbike helmet with an amber colored face guard, if possible, for greater resemblance of the Halo helmet. Position a picture of the MC helmet nearby for inspiration, before beginning your build. Refer to the picture as necessary to ensure an accurate design. Visit the Xbox.com website for official images.
2. Cut the outer components to the helmet. Trace and cut the pieces out of high-density foam. The Halo MC helmet has a thick, U-shaped visor and sharp diamond and polygon shaped pieces around the shell, giving it a textured and sleek look.
3. Cover each piece of foam with duct tape. Attach the foam pieces to the outside of the helmet using yellow neoprene epoxy for a secure hold. Brush the epoxy onto the back of each piece and apply with firm pressure. Avoid any prefabricated helmet vents to maintain ventilation.
4. Spray paint the helmet and foam pieces in a light or dark green color. The duct tape allows spray paint to adhere evenly to the foam.
5. Cut a piece of polyethylene for the face mask if you are using a helmet without a face guard. Spray paint the mask in an amber or gold color. Cut out a long, narrow slit for the eye line and punch five to ten holes near the mouth so you can breathe. Attach the polyethylene face mask to the front of the helmet with neoprene epoxy. Allow 24 hours for the helmet to dry in a well ventilated area before wearing.
