Pastels are used to draw on pastel paper.
Drawing is a fun pastime, hobby or even job. Whether taking art classes or drawing for enjoyment, art can be an expression of self and views. Pastel paper is a common drawing material for pastel drawing. Pastels come in a few different types--pencil pastels, oil pastels or soft and hard pastels--all of which can be used when drawing on pastel paper.
Instructions
1. Draw the image in a light pencil sketch. Typically, drawing in pencil first will allow for mistake correction before colors from pastels are added. Pencil can be used on almost any art paper or material, so it is the ideal option for basic drawing. Adjust the drawing as needed during the pencil sketch phase.
2. Add the pastel colors. The type of pastels can alter the use of pastels slightly, but all of them are somewhat slippery and easily draw on pastel paper.
3. Use the rag to wipe off pastel mistakes or blend and smooth the pastels together for effects. Pastels can easily be smeared, especially on pastel paper, and using a soft rag will help. Be careful when using the rag to remove and wipe up mistakes to avoid accidental smearing.
4. Adjust the pastels and colors as preferred for the drawing. Sit back and look over the drawing, and then make changes as necessary.
