Homemade Air-soft Grenades

Airsoft is a game similar to paintball in which teams engage in mock combat. Unlike paintball, however, the replica firearms used shoot 6mm plastic rounds instead of paintballs. The length of airsoft games can go from short-term skirmishes that last a few hours to historical re-enactments that can last for days. Airsoft is also used for training purposes by some police and military units.

What are airsoft grenades?

Airsoft grenades are key to any player's arsenal, and tie in with the realism factor of the sport. You'd use grenades in airsoft just as you would in actual combat - to take out several enemy troops at once, a fortified position or a key target such as a machine gun or a sniper - while providing minimal exposure to yourself. Most airsoft grenades have a range of about 20 feet and they can be tossed by hand or fired by grenade launchers.

Making your own airsoft grenades

While you could buy airsoft grenades with your other equipment, you also can make your own. Get plastic Easter eggs, small fire crackers, masking tape and plastic BBs. Separate the two halves of the egg and make a hole in the bottom of the egg big enough to put the firecracker fuse through. Put the firecracker inside the egg with the fuse through the hole, and fill the shell almost to the top with BBs. Put two 3-inch pieces of masking tape together and put the tape over the top of the egg, sealing the BBs in. Now you're ready for some airsoft.
