Acting Camp Scholarship grants

Master the stage at an acting summer camp.

Attending an acting summer camp can help give an aspiring young thespian the skills needed to pursue her passion and perhaps one day make it in the world of show business. These camps give young actors-in-training the chance to learn while having a fun camp experience. Many acting summer camps also offer scholarships to kids based on financial need or merit.

Interlochen Summer Arts Program

The Interlochen Summer Arts Program is located on 1,200 wooded acres in northwest Michigan. The camp offers a number of theater arts programs for students in grades 3 to 12, where each summer more than 2,500 students study acting, musical theatre, repertory theatre and more. Camp programs run from one week to six weeks, depending on the program and age division.

The camp offers both need-based and merit-based scholarships to help cover the cost of tuition, room and board during the camp. Approximately 25 percent of Interlochen students receive some form of financial aid. Need-based scholarships depend on a family's federal income tax information and ability to pay for the program. Merit-based scholarships are awarded to the most qualified candidates, and require no financial documentation.

Traveling Players Ensemble

The Traveling Players Ensemble summer camp, located in McLean, Virginia, was referred to as "a little-known summer gem" by the Washington Post. The camp offers classical theater training for children in grades 6 to 12, with special emphasis on performing in nature. Students learn camping skills as well as acting techniques. The camp culminates in a week-long backpacking and performance trip, where students tour with their show and camp near the performance sites.

The Traveling Players Ensemble offers need-based and talent-based scholarships for its many summer camp programs. To apply for financial aid, a student must submit a letter detailing why she wants to be part of the ensemble and what qualities she would bring to the group, along with a recommendation from a teacher or coach and the family's most recent federal tax return.
