To make your signature stand out in a crowd, create something eye-catching that deserves a second glance. Your signature can convey personality and confidence, two things employers often study when searching through stacks of job applications. Create a signature that defines who you are before you share it with the world.
Instructions
1. Borrow a handwriting analysis book from the library or study materials online. Once you practice your signature, it will become second nature. The trick is to create penmanship that displays positive attributes before your signature becomes habit.
2. Decide what type of impression you want to give prospective employers, colleagues and others. If you're in an artistic field, think "flowing and cute." If you're in a white collar environment (or plan to be), "forceful and confident" is more appropriate.
3. Print your name several times on a sheet of paper. Study the shapes of the letters and determine which stand out. Extend and shorten the letters in a variety of ways. Keep those edited shapes in mind as you write your name in cursive. Extend and shorten the cursive letters as you write them.
4. Open a word processing program such as Microsoft Word that has numerous fonts. If you don't have such a program, search for fonts online. Study the different letter shapes and incorporate any you like into your signature. For best results, combine several fonts to create a signature all your own.
5. Write quickly and with medium pressure to present a "white collar" signature. Hyperextend any letters that drop below the signature line such as "y." For a more artsy look, write your name slowly and add details such as curly cues, hearts or smiley faces over the letter "i."
6. Practice repeatedly until you can write your new signature quickly and without thought.
