Bubble letter name
Bubble letters are striking, comic and fun. They are a good way to write your name in doodles all over your notebooks or, with your parents' permission, even on your bedroom wall. Bubble letters are much less angular and sharp than the shape of letters we are initially taught. They should also look so pumped and lightweight that they may be about to float away.
Instructions
1. Start with capital letters. Practice drawing capital letters how you normally would. Then practice using curved lines, like you will for bubble letters. Make every angular point, like the sharp top of the letter "A," into a rounded point.
2. Move on to lower case. Practice drawing lower case letters how you normally would. Follow the same steps for the capital letters, rewriting the letters with rounded corners.
3. Make the letters fat. Once you can write both capital and lower case letters with rounded edges, try turning them into the actual bubbles. Draw a rounded capital "A" that is larger and wider than you normally would draw. Draw a second line inside the first, making the single line into a double-sided bubble. Make sure all ends are finished off with soft curves and not straight angles.
4. Use little circles to make the holes. Use circles and semi-circles to fill in any letter that has a hole in it, like the capital or lower case "A," "B" or "D."
5. Write your name. Practice writing your name, in both lower case and capital letters and combinations of letters until you get the hang of it. Practice, too, by writing a whole bubble letter alphabet again and again.
6. Color them in. Once you have the bubble letter outline down, practice shading in the letters with marker, pastels, pencil or crayon. Leave little circles of white just inside the largest bulge of the bubbles, like at the tips of a capital "A" or the ends of a lower case "C."
