Here is a step-by-step guide to making a wine drip candle using old crayons.
Instructions
1. Select a wine bottle that has not only decorative appeal but meaning to you as well. You do not want to use one that overpowers your table with size. Make sure to clean out all the wine from the bottle before starting the craft.
2. Cover your work area with newspaper or scrap paper to protect the surface under it.
3. Separate the crayons by color and mix up the colors to vary the look around the edges of the bottle.
4. Remove the paper from the crayons and test your melting skills by using the lighter to melt one crayon onto a piece of scrap paper. Keep the lighter away from your skin and burn the crayon from the top down. Stop burning the crayon when it gets too short to hold safely.
5. Melt the first crayon onto the top edge of the wine bottle. Keep the wax on the outside of the bottle. Avoid the rim if at all possible. Once the first crayon is melted and you have an understanding of the technique, begin to alternate colors around the edges of the bottle. Melt as many crayons as you like to create your look. The more you melt, the more authentic the look.
6. Allow the wax to cool. Chip the wax off the rim of the bottle once the wax has hardened, to allow room for the pillar candle to be placed in the bottle.
