Polish Aluminum Gemstone Plating

Aluminum Diamond Plating

Getting your aluminum diamond plating truly clean isn't a difficult project, but it can be a bit harmful to your health. Use caution when following these instructions to make your aluminum diamond plating shine like it never has before.

Instructions

1. Use a pump bottle to mist phosphoric acid on the running board surface. Keep the surface wet for at least 15 minutes by steadily misting with the pump bottle. This allows the acid to soak into any stains, rust and other contaminants. It also helps to reach to the shiny film just over the metal.

2. Scrub the surface lightly with a rough pad. Use small, soft strokes and let the phosphoric acid do the work for you. It has all of the cleaning power you need, so you don't have to use very much elbow grease.

3. Make sure you keep the surface evenly wet with the acid. You will see the metal turning white, but just keep it evenly wet. This will provide for a consistent and even cleaning.

4. Apply more phosphoric acid and keep scrubbing if it doesn't get the job done the first time around. Some stains and contaminants take much longer to get off than others.

5. Clean up any phosphoric acid that you have spilled. Clean water will do the trick because it dilutes the acid. Simply pour water on any parts of your driveway or garage where you spilled phosphoric acid.
