Developed by Adobe Systems, Illustrator is one of the world's most widely used vector graphics applications. The program supports the creation of high resolution drawings that can scale to any size, which makes it an ideal solution for developing logos, charts, diagrams, cartoons and other illustrations. Illustrator CS3 includes several built-in shape tools that allow you to generate commonly used shapes with just a few clicks. Once you know where to find the Star Tool, creating a star shape in Illustrator becomes a quick task.
Instructions
1. Open your Adobe Illustrator file.
2. Look to the Tools palette on the left side of the window, and then find the Shape button. With the Tools palette expanded, the button is located on the fourth row, on the right side of the palette. With the palette collapsed, the button is the only item located on the eighth row of the palette.
3. Click and hold the Shape button, and then select the "Star Tool" option from the resulting sub-menu.
4. Click once, hold your click, and then drag your mouse until the star shape matches your preferred width and orientation.
5. Press the up-arrow key to increase the number of points in the shape, or press the down-arrow key to reduce the number of points.
6. Release your click to confirm your choices.
