Draw Japanese Comics Of Cartoon People

Draw a uniform on your character if he is a schoolchild.

Traditional Japanese comics, typically known as manga, feature cartoon-like characters with lanky bodies, round heads and large eyes. Manga is typically found in the form of a graphic novel, where images accompany small snippets of dialogue. The main genres of manga are shonen and shojo. Shonen manga features fighting and is aimed at men, while shojo manga typically features romance and is aimed at girls. Most manga characters are in their teens or twenties; few stories focus on adults with families.

Instructions

1. Draw a circle of moderate size. This will be the top of the head. Place a dot just below the circle. This dot should be below the center of the circle and should increase the size of the head by about 30 to 40 percent. This will be the point for the chin.

2. Fill in the shape of the chin by drawing curved lines from the bottom edge of the circle to the point. This line should be vertical for the first half and should curve at the mid-point.

3. Draw eyes in the middle of the head, near the bottom of the circle. These eyes should be large and almond-shaped with pupils or a moderate size.

4. Add a nose at the bottom of the circle. The nose should be small and consist of only two lines that form an elongated "V." Draw a mouth, slightly under the nose. The mouth should look like a half-moon.

5. Draw hair on your character. Typical Japanese cartoons feature wild hairstyles on bold characters and normal hairstyles on more demure characters. Keep the hair long and flowing. At the ends of the hair, draw several thin tips that form the end of clumps. This makes hair look more natural.

6. Erase the guide of the circle so that only the outline of the head and facial features remain.

7. Draw the neck flowing from the bottom of the head. The neck should flow into the shoulders. Shoulders are typically the widest part of the torso and should be approximately two times the width of the cartoon figure's head.

8. Add a torso and hips. A female cartoon character should have a curved chest that flows into a narrow waist. The waist should curve into round hips. A male cartoon figure should have a more angular chest. His waist is thinner than his chest and his hips are slightly wider than his waist.

9. Draw the arms and legs. Arms should hit just below the hips, and legs should take up about 50 percent of the body. Cartoon arms and legs should be thin but not significantly thinner than those of the average human being.

10. Add clothing to your character. You may wish to draw a traditional Japanese school uniform, a kimono or a samurai outfit. Keep clothing loose and casual.
