Use A Wall

Chalk can brighten up any cement wall.

For as long as homes with four walls have existed, kids have been finding ways to "decorate" the walls with their artwork. In most cases, this has caused frustration for parents as they scrub away the crayon, paint and ink, but a more recent trend allows kids to decorate their bedrooms by drawing whatever they want. Adults are even jumping in on the fun and drawing on the walls as well. For households that want less permanent options, there are products on the market that allow someone to express themselves on a wall with little or no cleanup. Make your decor more personal with home-made wall treatments.

Instructions

1. Take down the pictures or other decorations from the wall on which you want to draw.

2. Paint the wall with a fresh coat of high-gloss paint. If the wall you are painting is cement or cinderblock, this may not be necessary. Roll on a thick coat so that it can take the pressure when you begin to draw on the wall.

3. Draw temporary designs onto your wall with chalk. Chalk is a good choice for wall designs because you can easily wipe it off the wall with a rag. Washable crayons are another good option.

4. Create illustrations that will last with permanent markers in different colors and sizes.

5. Purchase new technology that will allow you or your family to write on a wall without actually drawing with anything. Products like the KLEXL Smart Projector allow you to set up a screen on the wall. It comes with a "pen" that has an LED tip. When pressed against the wall, the projector will draw a line for you. When you are finished, you can simply turn the projector off and the picture will go away.
