Visit To Upstate New You are able to

Whether you want to ski or water ski, golf or hike or go antiquing, there are opportunities for you when you vacation in upstate New York. No matter if you’re a Midwesterner, New Englander or a New Yorker, (that’s the city, not the state), Up-State New York is not only close to you, but has what you’re looking for.

Instructions

Vacation in Upstate New York

1. Find Ellicottville on your map and weave your way to this town. Ellicottville is home to one of Up-State’s favorite resorts, Holiday Valley. Here you can find year-round fun with one of the state’s most lauded ski resorts that doubles as a plush, challenging golf course. In addition, the town of Ellicottville has a quiet charm that feels like it belongs somewhere in the early 20th century. Be sure to visit the Ellicottville Brewing Company for a great meal and some tasty libations.

2. Visit Cooperstown. If you’re a fan of the American pastime, Cooperstown, and the Baseball Hall of Fame is a must. The entire town is centered on baseball. Even if you're not a fan, you'll find something of interest here. If you love the game and know even a little of its history, the gleeful eeriness of the Hall of Fame is enough to make you go weak in the knees.

3. Enjoy Niagara Falls. Come see one of the wonders of the world and take a closer look from the Maid of the Mist. The Falls themselves stand about 167 feet above the lake below and an astonishing four million cubic feet of water plummet over the side every second. The falls straddle the Canadian-American border and are located about 17 miles north of Buffalo, New York. While there, consider riding the Maid of the Mist, which will take you under the falls or take in the Niagara Falls IMAX movie at the nearby theatre.

4. Travel to Chautauqua. If you’re a fisherman looking for a peaceful getaway, consider heading to Chautauqua in Western New York. The lake is calm and easy going and an amazing location for bass fishing. The lake is particularly easy to get to for Midwesterners looking to get away but not stray too far from home.

5. Plan a vacation to the Adirondacks. If outdoor fun, like camping and hiking, is your ideal for a getaway, you’ll find very few places as peaceful as New York’s Adirondacks. The region encompasses just about everything North and East of Utica all the way to the Vermont border. The best times to travel there are March to October.
