"Extreme Makeover
" has helped numerous families in need obtain the home of their dreams. You may have watched the show and wished that were you receiving such a home. While the program receives thousands of applications, you have nothing to lose by sending in one of your own. If you and your family could use a home makeover, here's what to do to become a contestant on the hit show.
Instructions
1. Go to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's official website (See Resources).
2. Download and fill out the 19-page application. Be prepared to spend time on it. The application will ask you questions about your family, your history, your current situation, your finances and why you are deserving of a home makeover.
3. Read over the application release agreement carefully. Have everyone in your family, including minor children, sign it. If you are considered the head of the household, you will also need to sign the location agreement. This gives the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" crew permission to enter your home, conduct interviews, construct sets and use images of your likeness in its program and for publicity.
4. Attach photographs that depict every member of your family.
5. Make a video. Follow the guidelines listed in the application for content and format. Your video must include a family greeting and good-bye shot and a tour of your home. You and your family must also go over your story and why you need a home makeover. While making a video isn't required, your application is more likely to be considered if you do.
6. Mail the complete application package to the address given on the official website (see Resources). Note that all materials become property of the production company and cannot be returned. It's a good idea to make copies of all documents, photos and the video.
