Anime clothing
The key to drawing good anime clothing is to draw them with simplicity in mind. Only the simplest shapes and lines should be used to convey the look of folds, draping and the shape underneath. To practice this method, try out the two anime clothing demos here. The flouncy skirt and the tank top in this demo are both very popular clothing items in this style of cartooning and can be adjusted to fit many different types of characters.
Instructions
Anime Skirt
1. Draw an "L" shape.
2. Draw another "L" shape that is a little longer that is right against the first.
3. Draw a larger "L" that connects to the last one and draw a smaller one that connects to that one.
4. Draw curved lines for a border on the skirt.
5. Draw two curved lines at the top of the skirt for a waistband.
Anime Tank Top
6. Draw a "U" shape for the collar.
7. Draw two lines that curve downward on each side of the "U." Draw "C" shapes on the edges of each, as shown in the example.
8. Draw a curved line down from the left side. If the character is a female, draw a "C" shape on the right side to indicate breasts and continue down into a curved line that mirrors the line on the left. If it is a male, simply mirror the line on the left. Connect the two lines at the bottom with a line that curves upward.
