Draw Anbu Naruto

The ANBU come from the popular Anime titled Naruto. They are characters who act as a special assassination squad in the series. Because the ANBU mask and character designs can vary, it may seem daunting to draw them at first. But ANBU are fairly simple to create since they all require the same simple steps to be drawn. Looking to create your own ANBU character drawings? All one needs is basic knowledge in figure drawing and practice.

Instructions

Creating the ANBU Mask

1. Draw a circle to create the mask's outline. If you are following the specific design of a character's mask, review your reference picture and adjust your circle to match its outline. Press lightly with your pencil and work slowly.

2. Create guidelines for the facial details of the mask. Draw a vertical guideline down the center of your mask. Place two horizontal lines on your vertical guideline to mark the placement of the eyes. Space the horizontal guidelines about an inch and a half apart from one another.

3. Sketch the designs of your mask. Review your reference picture and place the designs where shown. If your are creating your own custom designs, use your facial guidelines to assure your designs do not overlap the eyes or mouth of the mask. Press lightly with your pencil and sketch the basic outline of each design.

4. Draw the eyes, nose, and mouth of the ANBU mask. Draw two dots in between your horizontal guidelines, one on either side of the vertical line to create the eyes. Create the nose and mouth by drawing an X shape across the vertical guideline. Review your reference picture and adjust your drawing if there is any variations of the ANBU's eyes, mouth, or nose.

5. Erase your guidelines and correct any mistakes you find. Review your reference picture and adjust your mask's details wherever needed.

Drawing the ANBU Character

6. Sketch the rough draft of your ANBU character. Extend a neck from your mask and add the necessary details of the character's head around the mask. Use basic shapes to create a rough draft for the rest of the body. Use two squares to map out the torso and hips of your character. Sketch rectangles to map out the arms and legs of the body. Press lightly with your pencil and work slowly.

7. Draw the outline of your character. Use your rough draft as a guide and sketch the form of your character's body. Review your reference picture when needed to draw the correct details and proportions of the outline. Do not draw any of the inner details of the character, such as armor or cloth patterns. Focus on creating the basic outline.

8. Erase any markings left by your rough draft and review your picture. Adjust any mistakes found in your outline and sketch the inner details of your character's body. Follow your reference picture and lightly sketch the details found in the clothing, armor, and weapons.

9. Darken your entire picture by following over your lines with a pencil. Press hard and erase any smudges or extra marks. Review your referencing picture and adjust the details of your character as needed.

10. Ink your picture using a black pen. Erase any pencil markings and smudges for a clean, professional look. Add highlights and shadows with your pen using a cross hatching method to finalize the picture.
