Flash is a multimedia program similar to Java that allows websites to put special features such as video games and videos onto websites. Many of the free avatar creator tools available online use Flash for the creation of the avatars. Examples of these flash avatar tools include Create My Picture, Manga and Create Avatar. Creating a Flash avatar is simple enough for anyone, of any age, to do.
Instructions
Create My Picture
1. Go to the Create My Picture website and click "Skin Color" on the left side of the screen. Then select the skin color for your Flash avatar from the color selections that appear on the right side of the screen. The color of the avatar at the center of the screen will change.
2. Click "Chin" on the left side of the screen, and then click on one of the chin shapes that appear on the right side of the screen. Customize the eyes, hair, mouth, and facial hair in the same manner as the skin color and chin were customized.
3. Customize the color and length of the hair by clicking on the tabs labeled "Color" and "Long Hair" on the top right of the screen, after you've clicked on "Hair" on the left side of the screen. Customize the beard of the avatar in the same fashion, after clicking "Facial Hair" on the left side of the screen.
4. Customize accessories for the Flash avatar by clicking on the tab labeled "Accessories" on the top left of the screen. Then select the earrings, glasses, and hair/skin accessories in the same fashion as the previous features were selected.
5. Right-click on the avatar and select "Print" to print out the image of the Flash avatar, or click "Email" to email the avatar to yourself.
Manga
6. Go to the Manga website and then select the skin color for your avatar from the colors on the top left of the screen, and the background colors from the colors on the bottom left of the screen.
7. Click on the first box on the top center of the screen, the one with a picture of a head that has its hair highlighted, and select one of the hairstyles that appears on the bottom center of the screen. Select the color for the hair from the colors on the bottom left of the screen.
8. Customize the ponytail, eyes, mouth, hat, facial hair, glasses, earrings, eyebrows, and accessories in the same fashion as the hair and hair color were selected.
9. Right-click on the avatar and click "Print" to print the avatar, or click on the "Save/Share" button on the top right of the screen and select the social networking site you want to share your avatar on. You can also email the avatar to yourself.
Create Avatar
10. Go to the Create Avatar website and click "New Character" at the bottom center of the screen.
11. Select a type of character by clicking on the left and right arrows on the bottom center of the screen, then pressing "Select" between the arrows.
12. Select the race of the character in the same fashion as the type was selected.
13. Select a shirt for your Flash avatar from the selection of clothing that appears at the center of the screen, then click on the color for the shirt from the colors at the bottom of the screen. Finally, click "Eyes" on the right of the screen and select the eyes for your avatar in the same fashion as the shirt was selected.
14. Customize the eyebrows, nose, mouth, hair, bottoms and accessories for your avatar in the same manner as the shirt was customized.
15. Right-click on the image of the avatar and click "Print" to print the avatar, or click "Print" at the bottom of the screen. Click "Finish" at the bottom of the screen, then click either "Icon," "JPG" or "Send to friend" at the top of the screen to save the avatar as an icon, .jpg image or to email the avatar to yourself (or a friend).
