Popsicle sticks make
an excellent building material.
Popsicle sticks have long been a staple of model builders and crafters. They are versatile in the way they can be used and provide a strong and sturdy material in which to work. Popsicle sticks make flat panels that can be easily attached to other panels and pieces to create walls, floors and roofs. Popsicle sticks are flexible enough to even bend slightly to make the curve of a hull for a boat. When you are planning your next model, think about using Popsicle sticks to make your model sturdier.
Instructions
1. Pick the structure that you would like to recreate. Look online for measurements and dimensions, or if you have access to the structure take pictures and measurements for later use.
2. Sketch your structure on graph paper to ensure symmetry and purchase your supplies. The sketch should include the measurements so you have enough sticks to create your structure.
3. Lay the foundation for your structure and allow it to dry overnight. For boats, the foundation would be a skeleton or frame. For houses or buildings, the foundation would consist of a floor or a frame similar to what is constructed when building actual houses.
4. Build the next layer of the structure on the foundation and allow to dry completely. Brace any free standing elements while the glue is drying.
5. Continue adding layers of elements to complete your model.
