20 Tickets in This Town? It's possible.
The hit musical "Rent" on Broadway has been offering 34, $20 day-of-show (or "rush") tickets to anyone willing to enter their name in a lottery drawing. "Rent" on Broadway is closing September 7th, 2008, and now is a better time than ever to see the hit show 1 last time. And what's better, these rush tickets are located in the front 2 rows of the theater! Talk about a bargain!
Instructions
1. Round up as many friends as you can to put their names down for you. These must be friends that you can convince to put their names down in the lottery, but do not want to see the show. The fewer people you need rush tickets for, the better. It's very rare that a group of 6 people will all leave with rush tickets.
2. You will be printing the number of tickets requested (either 1 or 2) on an index card to enter the drawing when you arrive at the theater. If you are bringing a group that all wants tickets, it is best to go in an even-numbered group. Everyone in your group should be requesting 2 tickets.
3. Index cards for the drawing are available at 5:30 p.m. for 8:00 p.m. shows, 11:30 a.m. for 2:00 p.m. matinee shows and 5:00 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. show (Sunday). Cards will be available for half an hour. Each person will be able to fill out 1 card, listing their name and number of tickets requested.
4. It will be announced when cards are no longer accepted. The drawing begins approximately 1/2 an hour after cards were made available. Listen carefully for your name, as it is difficult to hear in the middle of Times Square.
5. Once all the names have been drawn, stick around. Sometimes cards are thrown away due to a breach of the rules or the winner not posessing cash and a photo ID. Once the winners have paid for their tickets, no more rush tickets will be sold for that day.
