Create A Starfish Wreath

Make a beach-inspired wreath using starfish.

Instead of buying a costly home decor souvenir on your beach vacation, create your own boutique-worthy wreath using your seashell collection and starfish. You can hang the handmade, sea-inspired wreath on a door or wall to create a casual, beach house look. The wreaths are a way to commemorate a family trip and utilize your sea treasures. The crafty wreaths also make thoughtful holiday and birthday gifts for all of the beach lovers in your life.

Instructions

1. Cut 9 yards of 1 1/2-inch-wide grosgrain ribbon. Choose a white, ivory or blue ribbon, depending on your preferences.

2. Place a dab of hot glue on one end of the ribbon and press it onto a 12-inch foam wreath base. Begin winding the ribbon tightly around the wreath base, overlapping the ends as you go, until the entire surface is covered. Cut off any excess ribbon. Glue the end of the ribbon onto the base.

3. Stick ball head pins into the wreath at 4-inch increments to secure the ribbon into place.

4. Use a hot glue gun to attach starfish around the front of the ribbon-covered wreath base. Fill in any spaces between the starfish with seashells.

5. Loop a length of white nautical rope through the wreath for hanging.
