Suggestions For A Vegas Showgirl Costume

Las Vegas is known for its glitzy hotels and showgirls. Dressing like a showgirl for Halloween is a fun escape from everyday life. You get to be flashy and over-the-top for a night as you seek to be the center of attention. Putting together a showgirl costume is fairly simple, and you can be as flashy as you want.

Headpieces

One of the staples of the Vegas showgirl is the headpiece. The bigger, the better. Headpieces usually are heavily decorated headbands or full head covers with large feathers or other materials sticking out to create a tall decoration. Sometimes these even drape back in a cape like fashion. Make your own headpiece with your favorite craft supplies. Just be sure it isn't too heavy as your neck will become sore after wearing for an extended period of time.

Heels

Every showgirl knows you have to wear a killer pair of high heels. While most showgirls wear stilettos, it's not a requirement. However you should find a pair of fairly high (3+ inches) to make you look longer and leaner. For added sparkle and shine, put glitter and rhinestones on the straps of your shoes.

Risque Attire

Many show girls costumes consist of nothing more than a headpiece and sparkling bikini. Choose something you'll feel comfortable in but make sure to show some skin. You can select a short backless dress if you'd like to cover your stomach, or show off the stomach with a one-piece cut out outfit if bikinis aren't your style.

Rhinestones

It's time to be bedazzled with rhinestones. Showgirls are all about shine and sparkle on stage so you need lots of rhinestones. Glue or attach with a rhinestone tool all over your costume. You can also wear fake rhinestone jewelry such as large earrings, bracelets or necklaces.
