Create A Chequebook Cover

Custom check book covers are expensive and do not always suite personal style preferences. Choose fabric that fits your sense of style and make a custom check book cover in less than two hours. Complete this project even if you are a new seamstress. All seams are straight, making it a cinch to sew this project.

Instructions

1. Cut two, 7.5 by 14.75 inch squares from the fusible webbing. Cut one, 7.5 by 14.75 inch square from both outer and inner fabrics for the check book cover.

2. Adhere the fusible webbing to the wrong side of each fabric square. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your particular webbing, to adhere to fusible webbing. Trim any edges of webbing that hang over the sides of the fabric.

3. Place the two squares right sides together. Use a sewing machine to stitch the long side edges of the check book cover together, using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press the seams open with a hot iron.

4. Turn the cover so that the right sides are out. Press the side seams flat. Measure 3.5 inches in from each of the short sides, marking the measurements with a disappearing marker. Measure again, marking .5 inches in on each short side.

5. Finish the short ends with a surger. Fold each short end in, making a crease at the half inch measurement. Press the edges in and snip off the corners. Place the outside of the cover up, sew a 1/2 inch seam along each short end.

6. Fold each end in, making the crease at the 3.5 inch line. Press the seam. Sew each side edge with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Press.

7. Crease the cover in half. Clip all loose threads. Insert the check book and register.
