Make Drawer Pulls

Making your own drawer pulls is a great way to add just the right finishing touch to a piece of furniture or room design. If you have looked high and low for the drawer pulls you have been envisioning, with no success, then make your own. Many things can be used for drawer pulls, so there are really no limitations. Drawer pulls are very easy to make, and you do not need to be a crafter to create unique drawer pulls for your furniture or cupboards.

Instructions

Beaded Drawer Pulls

1. Cut a length of craft wire 12 inches long.

2. Thread a large bead for the center of the wire. Thread beads on each side of the center until they measure 2 inches on both sides.

3. Bring the wire ends together and thread through the hole on the drawer.

4. Thread the ends of the wire through two different holes on a flat button. Pull the button flush against the inside of the drawer. Twist the wire ends tight against the button. Clip off the excess wire. Bend the twisted wire end flat against the button.

Wooden Toy Drawer Pulls

5. Drill two small holes through the side of the toy you want to be the front. Center these holes and space a 1/4 inch apart.

6. Cut a 12-inch piece of craft wire.

7. Thread the wire through the holes so that they extend from the backside.

8. Bring the ends of the wire together and thread through the holes in the drawer.

9. Thread the ends of the wire through two different holes on a flat button. Pull the button flush against the inside of the drawer. Twist the wire ends tight against the button. Clip off the excess wire. Bend the twisted wire end flat against the button.

Clay Drawer Pulls

10. Form or mold the polymer clay into a variety of creative shapes.

11. Push the head of a bolt into the back of the clay design. Make sure that the clay overlaps the head of the bolt. Bake the clay according to the manufacturer's instructions.

12. Paint the clay drawer pulls using acrylic paints and allow to dry. Brush a coat of clear acrylic sealer onto the clay design to protect the finish and make it more durable. Allow the sealer to dry.

13. Insert the bolt into the hole of the drawer and attach a nut to tighten.
