There are a variety of educational grants available to dance students every year. There are several sources of scholarship money, including dance foundations, private companies and private endowments. Although some grants are open to students of all forms of dance, others are limited to students who are pursuing one specific dance form. Some grants for dance students also have age requirements.
The American Tap Dance Federation Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship
The American Tap Dance Federation (ATDF) awards scholarship money to tap dance students through the ATDF Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship. These scholarships are typically awarded to cover between 25 percent and 50 percent of the total cost of a student's tuition, although there are a few full scholarships offered every year. The Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship does not cover the $40 registration fee. In order to be eligible, a student must be 19 years of age or younger and must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an ATDF year-round youth class or weekend workshop.
