Create A Miracle Wand Hang On To A Hands

Make a Magic Wand Cling to a Hand

One of the simplest, yet most effective beginner magic tricks is making a magic wand cling to an outstretched hand. This trick is an excellent lead-in to wand levitating tricks and a great warm up for the audience. With a bit of practice, you can master wand suspension techniques in no time. Read on to learn make a magic wand cling to a hand.

Instructions

1. Purchase two wands. The most effective method employs plain black wands with white tips. Use one as your standard wand during the show. Allow the audience to examine this to show that there are no wires or sticky adhesives attached. Use the second, prepared magic wand to perform the wand suspension trick.

2. Prepare the wand. Measure the distance between your second and third fingers. Use the hammer to insert the black pins into the magic wand at a slightly larger distance, near the center of the wand. They must jut toward one another at a slight angle.

3. Lay your second and third fingers between the pins and separate them slightly. You must be able to slide your fingers between the pins casually. If the distance is correct, the pressure will be sufficient for you to lift the wand off the table while keeping your fingers outstretched, allowing the wand to 'hang' from your hand. Adjust the pin placement if necessary.

4. Remove the pin heads and file down the shafts to 3/8-inch. After practicing, you can choose to shorten them further if preferred. The shorter they are, the less likely that your audience will see them.

5. Place a third pin on one end of the magic wand, near (but not on) the white tip. Hammer this pin farther into the magic wand so that only 3/8 of an inch protrudes. Do not remove the tip. To suspend the wand using this pin, slide the pin head underneath your fingernail and allow the wand to hang down from one finger. Insert additional pins, if desired, to achieve custom wand suspensions. With a little ingenuity, you can create cool magic tricks of your own with this method.

6. Use the other wand for a final suspension trick later in the show. Hold up the wand in your left fist with you palm toward you. Use your right hand to grasp your wrist from the inside. Show only your fingertips to the audience. Carefully place one finger on the wand, holding it in steady. Slowly outstretch the fingers of your left hand, palm facing away from the audience. It will appear your wand is floating unsupported behind your hand.

7. Practice. To perform these beginner magic tricks well, you must learn magical presentation. In the pin trick, you must switch the wands after the audience examines the regular wand and effortlessly slide your fingers into place without looking for visual cues. Practice in front of a mirror until you've mastered the clinging wand techniques.
