Draw An Easy Dog'S Face

Draw a Simple Dog's Face

Learning to make dog drawings is a fun activity for anyone interested in art or illustration. You can make a dog's face using basic shapes and then add the dimensions to bring the dog to life. As you get started, remember to take it one step at a time.

Instructions

1. Sketch the head of the dog drawing. Make a circle, then draw an oval that overlaps with the bottom of the circle just a little bit. This creates the head and snout of your dog.

2. Place a small round dot where the bottom of the circle intersects with the center of the nose.

3. Place two long and thin ovals for eyes on either side of the dog's nose and only slightly higher. Draw two very small black circles inside your ovals at the top and keep them white. Color the rest of the eyes black.

4. Add two ovals at the top of each side of the head to make ears. For floppy ears, draw two additional ovals that overlap at the top to mimic the folded appearance of floppy dog ears.

5. Erase the lines inside the dogs head where the simple shapes overlap. Leave small 1/8-inch sections of the snout oval overlapping on each side. Leave a tiny section of the of the bottom inside oval that makes the ear to show the crease in the ear.

6. Add a half circle to one side of the snout to make the tongue. Divide the tongue in half beginning at the snout and ending 2/3 of the way down the tongue. Fill in color or shading to complete your dog drawing.
