Flower pots have more uses than just just holding flowers.
Craft making is an outlet for creativity, is an enjoyable way to pass the time and provides items to decorate your home. Mediums for making crafts can range from paper to wood to china. If you're looking for an unusual medium, consider flower pots, as they can give crafts a three-dimensional look for a variety of projects.
Flower Pot Snowman
Create a flower pot snowman to decorate your house during the winter. Purchase any size terracotta flower pot you'd like, depending on how big a snowman you want to create. Purchase a foam ball that matches the flower pot's size. Paint the entire flower pot white. While it's drying, cut seven circles from black felt or craft foam. Glue two of the circles onto the foam ball for eyes and glue the remaining circles to the ball in a half circle for a smile. Cut a triangular piece of orange felt or craft foam and glue it to the center of the foam ball, creating a nose. When the flower pot has dried, turn it upside down and glue the foam ball to the bottom. Paint three or four black circles vertically down the center of the pot, making the snowman's buttons. Create a scarf from a thin length of any fabric tied between the foam ball and the pot.
Reindeer Bell Ornament
Purchase the smallest clay pot you can find and paint it brown. When the pot is dry, flip it upside down and glue two small googly eyes to the front just above the brim. Glue a small red pom-pom to the brim just below the eyes. Thread a brown pipe cleaner through a small bell and fold the ends up to create a loop. Insert the two ends of the pipe cleaner through the hole inside the pot so they stick out from the top. Bend the two halves of the pipe cleaner, making them look like antlers. Tie a loop in a piece of ribbon and feed it through the hole inside the pot so you can hang up the ornament.
Pumpkin Flower Pot
Create a pumpkin flower pot for Halloween. Paint a medium-sized clay pot orange. When the paint dries, use black paint to add a jack-o'-lantern face on the front of the pot. Make it silly or scary. When the entire pot has dried, fill it with potting soil and your favorite fall flower -- perhaps a mum or an aster. Place the flower pot by your front door to welcome trick-or-treaters.
