Choreograph A Dance

Dance is a beautiful artform to watch and while its the dancers who bring the art to life there is a master artist behind that creating the steps. Here is choreograph a dance.

Instructions

1. Listen to the music several times. Develop a story of some sort or an emotional range where things change throughout the song.

2. Study the skill levels of the people that will be in the dance. Take note of any special tricks that any of the dancers is capable of or skills that they truly excel at. These are things you might want to include.

3. Create either a dynamic or intriquing opening. If your dancers are highly skilled create a big opening with lots of tricks, but make sure not to put your absolute best tricks out yet because then the routine has no where to go from there. You want to start strong but continue to build up from that point.

4. Create levels of intensity and speeds of movement. Vary the spacing and groupings of dancers. Incorporate special tricks and solo sections throughout to break up the constant group interaction.

5. Choreograph the dancers to use one another and play off each other. Remember they are telling a story and trying to show the audience how they feel about it.

6. Create a big finish. Every story should have a good ending no matter what happens because then you'll be satisfied with it despite anything ill that might have happened earlier. A dance is just the same. Create something memorable. Big tricks, amazing extensions or lifts, dynamic sychronization, whatever suits the music. Good luck!
