If you are interested in drawing comics or caricatures, drawing people may prove to be difficult. Comic drawings or caricatures are also different from sketching, or realistic drawings. There is a specific style and approach to take, and different rules to follow. Faces may be more difficult, since there is a lot of detail. Have patience and keep practicing.
Instructions
1. Lightly draw a perfect oval in pencil. Using a pencil, lightly draw a straight vertical line down the center of the oval. Using a pencil, lightly draw a straight horizontal line across the center of the oval. These are reference points.
2. Draw the eyes directly above the horizontal line, directly to the left and directly to the right of the vertical line. Start from the top of the eye, using the felt-tip marker. Draw two squiggly lines for the eyebrows. Go back over the eyebrows with the marker to exaggerate the bushiness you want to create.
3. Draw the nose in the center where the two lines cross. To draw the nose, draw the outside nostrils of the nose first. Draw the rest of the nose from there, judging how big you want it to be.
4. Draw a heavy line with the marker to indicate the opening of the mouth. From there decide how thick or pouty you want the lips to be, and draw them.
5. Draw the shape of the cheeks, chin, and jaw from the middle of the oval to the bottom of the oval with permanent marker, and erase the remaining pencil lines.
6. Decide if you want to draw big or little ears. Draw smaller oval shapes for the ears directly above or below the eyes on the sides of the oval. Fill in the ears to make them look realistic.
7. Draw the line for the parting of the hair. Draw a mixture of thick and thin lines with the felt-tip marker for the hair. Design your own hair style for the character.
8. Draw in any funny or odd characteristics you want, such as moles, dimples, freckles, wrinkles or eye bags.
9. Draw the shadings and shadows to complete your comic face drawing.
