Make Use Of A Dj Equalizer

The DJ equalizer can be your best friend. It allows you to adjust the bass, treble and midrange frequency content to control what the audience hears, to blend the music together and to display your creativity. Here's make these buttons work.

Instructions

1. Practice using the equalizer long before you step in front of a crowd. This gives you the opportunity to learn how it works and prevents you from making a mistake when performing live.

2. Turn down the treble or high button to increase the bass in a song. The bass is the underlying beat of the song and can be adjusted to fit the needs of the crowd.

3. Alternate the treble and bass as you switch between the two different records on your turntable. You may find that one song requires more bass and less treble while the second song needs more treble and less bass.

4. Adjust the equalizer to mix the two records. The songs often have varying bass lines, and by adjusting the equalizer you can make the songs blend together.

5. Listen through your headphones to hear exactly what the crowd hears and keep listening as you adjust the different levels. As you continue to adjust the levels, the sound the audience hears will change.

6. Mix the songs by turning the bass, treble or mid knobs higher or lower depending on the music. After a few times you'll begin to find this easier to do.

7. Watch the crowd to gauge their reaction and keep track of how they feel. This usually changes from crowd to crowd, with some audiences preferring more bass and others liking less bass.
