Wax or Seal Travertine Tile
Travertine tile is a natural stone product and is part of the limestone family. It is available in different colors that range from ivory to gold, depending on the area where the travertine was quarried. The organic impurities in the area are what give the travertine tiles their colors. Travertine comes in four finishes: polished, matte, brushed and textured. You do not wax travertine tiles. The wax could coat the stone and cause it to become discolored over time.
Instructions
1. Vacuum travertine tiles to remove any loose dirt. Clean travertine tiles with a gentle floor cleaner to remove the dirt and debris.
2. Dry the tiles thoroughly with a soft cotton cloth. Let the tiles sit for 24 to 72 hours to completely dry. Travertine tile can be very porous, and you do not want to seal any moisture in the tile.
3. Pour tile sealer into a shallow pan. Apply the sealer to the tile with a sponge, working in areas of 6 to 8 square feet at one time. Allow the sealer to dry for 24 hours, and then apply a second coat.
4. Dry the second coat of sealer, using a soft cotton cloth. Wipe up all the excess sealer to avoid leaving any streaks.
