Name art allows individuals to turn their name into an original piece of artwork. They can think creatively about the letters and shapes, and decide how that can be presented in a unique way. Favorite colors and interests can be incorporated into name art, so that no one name, even if it is technically the same, is alike. Name art can be created in a few fun steps.
Instructions
1. Select a canvas to use for the piece. This can be anything from a piece of paper, to an artist's canvas or a block of wood.
2. Use a pencil to write your name across the canvas in your usual style. As everyone's handwriting is different, writing as you normally would gives a unique touch from the start.
3. Collect images that interest you. Find personal photographs, pictures from magazines, and even draw some images yourself.
4. Use scissors to cut the images out. Cut out only part of an image if it is too large to be incorporated into a letter.
5. Paste the images over top of the letters, until all initial pencil outlines are covered.
6. Use acrylic craft paint and a paintbrush to paint designs around the name.
7. Spray the piece with an artist's fixative, available at art and craft stores, for protection and durability.
