Mosaic artwork can be created out of different types of materials.
A mosaic craft is created by making a picture from small pieces of material. This material could include glass, clay, beads, sequins or paper. Depending on the level of complexity, mosaic artwork is easy enough for a preschooler to successfully accomplish, or can be challenging enough for a seasoned artist to make a masterpiece. In order to make a simple mosaic craft, it is important to follow a few basic steps.
Instructions
1. Draw an outline of a picture onto a sheet of white printing paper.
2. Using scissors, cut colored construction paper into small, 1/2-inch sized pieces.
3. Separate the cut construction paper into piles of like colors.
4. Apply a very thin layer of craft glue to the picture.
5. Place the construction paper pieces onto the picture. Organize the colors to match your picture. For example, place different shades of green onto the boughs of a tree.
6. Continue adding pieces of construction paper until the entire area has been filled. If you have any white space, fill it in with a solid background color.
7. Allow the glue to dry completely before displaying the picture.
