Make Your Own RPG VX
RPG Maker VX allows the user to create a personal RPG, or role playing game, without knowledge of programming. The easy to use functions make creating a custom RPG simple for anyone new to the creation of RPG games. The game can follow any preferred specifications and the user decides on the hero, characters, monsters and storyline.
Instructions
1. Download the RPG VX software. There is a free trial download available. After the 30-day trial period, the full software is available for purchase and download. As of November 2010, the cost of the full software download is about $60.
2. Open the software and select the map options. Create a map according to personal preferences for size, type and appearance. There are options like grass, brick, trees and oceans that allow personalized maps.
3. Add characters. Select the character creation options and follow the prompts to create heros and heroines. Create the characters according to the available specification options. Select preferred monsters from the list of available monsters. Add the monsters to the map by dragging and placing in preferred locations. Put magic items into the map by dragging and placing around the map as preferred. The program makes it easy to add the monsters, characters and magic items by simply selecting the preferred items or monsters and selecting the location where they are placed.
4. Select preferred events and place them on the map as preferred. Select from several event options to create a story for the RPG. Events are the quests characters follow to obtain magic items, fight the boss monsters and create a storyline for the game. Events might include a dungeon quest to obtain a magic item or a quest to save a princess. There are event options available in the software that are added like the characters.
5. Play the game. Try out the RPG and make changes, such as adding more monsters or removing an event, as preferred.
