Dance groups are increasing as the number of dance shows on TV and dance movies also grow.
With entertaining dance shows "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing With the Stars," dance is becoming a pastime for everyone to enjoy. Dance classes are forming all over and dancers are forming dance groups. Dance groups are a great way for dancers to perform and compete as a team. In order to start a dance group, you will need to promote the group, hold auditions and schedule rehearsal times and locations.
Instructions
1. Decide on the number of dancers need for the dance group. Promote and advertise auditions for a new dance group. Purchase advertisements in newspapers, on radio and on TV. Promote the group through social media including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Place announcements at dance studios, performing arts centers, dance supplies stores and any other locations visited by dancers.
2. Hold auditions for dancers. At the audition, the dancers will learn a routine you have previously selected and perform the dance learned. Dancers are judged on how well they perform the dance. Other factors that can be used to select dancers include, style of dance, experience and look of the dancer. Have a list of requirements before the audition to help pick out the best dancers.
3. Complete dance questionnaire. Once the dancers for the dance group are chosen have each dancer fill out a questionnaire. The questionnaire should include questions about the dancers availability. Other information that can be included in the questionnaire can include number of years the dancer has been dancing as well as the style or styles of dance they are trained in.
4. Choose a rehearsal time, date and location based on the dancers' availabilities.
5. Decide on a name before the dance group schedules performances. The name will help distinguish the dance group from others. According to the magazine "DanceSpirit," you should also decide if the group will compete or just perform for fun.
6. Compile a list of possible events for performances. Schools, churches and performing arts centers often have events where dance groups can perform. "DanceSpirit" suggests performing at charity events in the community.
7. Start performing. Select events, make a schedule for the group and start dancing.
