Children's carefully crafted artwork
Displaying your children's artwork can be as creative as the artwork itself! Several alternatives can be used that do not require frames, tape, or unsightly thumbtacks that may ruin your child's treasured masterpieces. An artwork clothesline is a great way to showcase children's artwork. The artwork can be changed daily, weekly, or even hourly. Multiple pieces can be displayed at one time, and after the pieces have been viewed for as long as needed, they can be stored undamaged.
Instructions
1. Determine where you want your art clothesline to hang. A tall doorway or archway is a neat place to hang art. An empty wall is also a fabulous area of the room to spice up with some color and creativity. Measure how high you would like your clothesline to hang. If you are using a doorway for your display, consider that people will be walking through it. Mark a spot for the clothesline high enough so that people will not be "clotheslined" or smacked with hanging sheets of carefully constructed artwork. Mark the spot with a pencil and measure the same distance a few feet away, where the other end of the clothesline will be connected.
2. Cut a length of string or yarn a few inches longer than the area between the two pencil marks. Wrap the ends of the string around the stick part of the thumbtack--twice should be sufficient. Push the thumbtack into the wall on the mark that you made. Using the other end of the string, repeat the process on the opposite side.
3. Have your children create or pick out their favorite creations. Using the clothespins, hang the artwork on the line. The children can even decorate the clothespins with paint or stickers for their own artwork if they choose. Explain to them that you will be changing the artwork periodically when they have created something extra special. You will be amazed at the beauty that your little hanging gallery will provide!
