Glow-in-the-dark paints work by capturing light and then releasing it. The paints can be used in craft projects to create a luminous effect. Children may also want to use the paint to make a map of the solar system on their ceiling. When they turn the lights out at night, the ceiling will glow with stars and planets. Whatever project you have in mind, you can mix your own glow-in-the-dark paint at home.
Instructions
1. Cover your table with several sheets of newspaper. This will protect the table surface should you accidentally spill any of the homemade glow-in-the-dark paint while you are mixing it.
2. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of glow-in-the-dark powder in the color of your choice into a small disposable plastic bowl.
3. Add 6 teaspoons of a clear acrylic gel medium to the powder, and mix with a paintbrush to combine. You can use a waterproof gloss or matte medium based on your personal preference for indoor projects. An automotive acrylic clear would be better if your project is outdoors.
