Trobleshoot and fix Manitowoc Ice Machines

Manitowoc ice machines should not be operated in extremely hot conditions to ensure proper functioning.

The Manitowoc Company is perhaps best known for their large scale cranes for construction, but the company also produces food service items, such as fryers and ice machines. Manitowoc ice machines are used in hotels, restaurants, cafeterias and other food service environments. Once installed, the ice makers should operate well with standard maintenance and care, but if problems arise, some troubleshooting steps may be beneficial in resolving the issue.

Instructions

1. Verify that the Manitowoc ice machine is connected to an electrical power supply if the unit is not turning on. Replace the fuse or circuit breaker as needed.

2. Move the main switch to "Ice" to start ice production if the unit has power but is not working. Ensure the ice curtain is not caught or stuck and is swinging freely inside the bin.

3. Turn off and unplug the ice machine if ice production has slowed or stopped. Clean the machine with an approved cleaning solution (available through Manitowoc) and verify that the valves connected to the unit are open for proper water flow. Restore power to the unit before use.

4. Ensure all four legs of the machine are touching the floor evenly if the ice machine moves or vibrates excessively during use. Adjust as needed.

5. Avoid using the ice machine in an extremely hot environment if the machine is producing low levels of ice. The surrounding air temperature cannot exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

6. Clean the air filter and ensure there are no obstructions on the water line.
