Cancel The Smithsonian Magazine

Smithsonian Institute "castle"

As the official periodical of the Smithsonian Institute, the Smithsonian Magazine covers history, science, people, travel and the arts with easy-to-read text and compelling pictures. A subscription grants membership to the Institute, which includes a 10 percent dining discount at its Washington, D.C. facility, invitations to special programs and free admission to the National Design Museum in New York City. If you have a subscription that you want or need to cancel, follow the steps below.

Instructions

1. Cancel after two free trial issues by waiting for the bill. Write "Cancel" on it and return it to the magazine. You can keep the trial issues.

2. Cancel a regular subscription so that you can receive a refund for any issues you have not received. Be aware that the magazine may receive your notice of cancellation after a particular issue has already been sent.

3. Cancel via telephone for the fastest response. Call customer service at 800-766-2149. Have a copy of the subscription label by your side to answer questions about the numbers that appear on it. Be sure to note whom you spoke to, as well as the date and time, in case any issues arise later.

4. Cancel via email with a message to smithsonian@emailcustomerservice.com. Attach a scan or webcam picture of the subscription label, but be sure that the file does exceed the maximum attachment size allowed by your email server. You can also type the identifying numbers from your label, but this can be time-consuming.

5. Cancel by letter if you want to document the process. Include the mailing label by scanning and printing it, making a copy ,or removing it from the cover. Be sure to keep a copy of the letter and the label in case of any problems.
