Chrome exhausts are often added to give a motorcycle personal style.
Victory specializes in after market exhaust systems for motorcycles. These exhausts can be installed for decorative, performance or repair reasons. A chrome exhaust could add value and style to your motorcycle. Other varieties of exhausts could add some power. And of course, replacing an old exhaust that is too loud, dull sounding, or malfunctioning is another reason to install an after market system. Despite the many types exhausts Victory offers and the many types of motorcycles, the installation process is basically the same.
Instructions
1. Remove the old exhaust from your motorcycle. Coat the bolts that hold the exhaust in place with WD-40. Allow the WD-40 to soak in for 10-15 minutes. Loosen and remove the bolts by turning them counterclockwise with an adjustable wrench. Pull the exhaust away from the motorcycle with your hands.
2. Detach the old gasket from the inside of the motorcycle's exhaust port. It sits several inches inside the hole from which you just removed the exhaust pipe. Loosen and removed any bolts that hold the gasket in place. Pull the gasket out of the exhaust port with your hand. WD-40 will help to remove and corroded or tight bolts.
3. Remove carbon, dirt, and any other buildup from the areas on the motorcycle from which you removed the exhaust pipe and gasket. Wipe the surface of the motorcycle with a shop rag.
4. Dip your new gasket in anti-seize lubricant.
5. Insert the new gasket into the exhaust port from which you removed the old gasket. Secure the gasket in place by inserting and tightening bolts through the holes of the gasket and the exhaust port.
6. Install the new exhaust pipe working from the front to the back starting with the head pipe. Installing the new pipe will be a reversal of the old pipes removal process. Place the main pipe of the exhaust in the exhaust port. Adjust the angle of the exhaust to line up the mounting holes of the exhaust with the holes of the motorcycle. Insert and tighten bolts in the holes by turning them clockwise with an adjustable wrench.
