You have a 1 in 6 or a 16.67 percent chance of rolling a particular number on one playing die.
Odds and percentages can relate to the probability that a certain outcome will occur. Gambling, sports statistics and medical prognoses deal with odds and percentages in various ways. Odds are usually written as a certain chance out of a whole (as in a one-in-100 chance). Percentages are numbers with a percent sign that indicate a fraction of the whole, which is 100. You can easily convert between odds and percentages with a calculator.
Instructions
1. Enter the number "100" into your calculator.
2. Press the divide button.
3. Key in the second number in the set of odds. For example, if the probability is 1 in 4 (or 1:4), key in the number 4.
4. Press the "=" button. In this example, you should see the number 25, since 100 divided by 4 is 25.
5. Press the multiplication button.
6. Key in the first number in the set of odds. In this example, you would press the number "1."
7. Press the "=" button to view your answer. In this example, the answer would be 25.
8. Add a percent sign if you are writing your answer. In this case you would write "25%," since the odds of 1 in 4 are equal to a 25 percent chance of an event occurring.
