Get Hurry Tickets For Broadway Shows

Want to See a Show?

Broadway shows can be incredibly expensive, but if you're not picky about where you want to sit and you don't need to buy your tickets ahead of time, you can save money by purchasing Rush tickets, which are sold at a heavily discounted price. Rush tickets are available for some Broadway shows on the day of the show.

Instructions

Get Rush Tickets for Broadway Shows

1. Call the theater box office for the most updated information about the Rush ticket policy for any given show. Each show will have slightly different rules about what they offer.

2. Check a website like the one featured at Talkin' Broadway (see Resources section), which offers a complete and fairly updated list of all the Broadway shows and their Rush policies, if they offer one.

3. Enter your name into a discount ticket drawing. Some major long-running Broadway musicals such as "Rent," "Avenue Q" and "Wicked" have Rush lotteries where entrants are randomly selected to buy a discounted rush ticket. The number of tickets available varies by show.

4. Wait in line until tickets become available at the box office. Rush tickets are usually released at a specific point during the day--often when the box office first opens, but it depends on the show. Sometimes these tickets are only available to students, so call the box office to find out what the criteria are.

5. The newest Rush policy is called Digital Rush, created for "Spring Awakening" tickets. Digital Rush requires participants go online and request tickets the day of the show. They will receive a confirmation number but are not guaranteed seats until they enter the confirmation number on the "Spring Awakening" website (www.springawakening.com). You may then reserve the number of tickets requested. You then pay for these tickets online and take a print-out of your confirmation to the Will Call window at the theater to pick up your tickets.
