Prepare To Create A Bouquet

Flower arrangements enhance the mood and ambience of a home or office.

The creation of a floral arrangement depends on factors such as style, shape and the arrangement's location. In addition, considerations for color, accent and decor weigh heavily on the final display. To begin preparation, first select a theme that reflects both your intent and experience. Then gather tools and equipment. Finally, select a flower size and type that matches well with the overall theme of the floral arrangement.

Instructions

1. Consider the basic elements vital to the overall design. These elements include considerations for the arrangement's proportion, balance, color, contrast and harmony. As these characteristics vary with the type of arrangement and your intent, choose the characteristics of each element based on container size and the arrangement's style or theme.

2. Choose a theme. As each flower arrangement varies by style, choose a style that reflects the theme or mood that matches your intent. Arrangement styles include the traditional style and a modern style reflecting more abstract tastes.

3. Select an arrangement shape. Choose a shape conducive to the space and location of the arrangement. Basic arrangement shapes include the popular triangular shape, a circular style, the asymmetrical crescent shape or the curve design inspired by English artist William Hogarth. When choosing a shape, be sure to consider the shape of the floral container and the type of flower to include height considerations.

4. Gather materials such as flower tape, florist shears, containers and a sharp knife. In addition, select the type and size of flower destined for the arrangement. Generally, flower types depend on the style of the arrangement along with shape and location.
