Get Reduced Tickets For Broadway Shows

Broadway

If you have ever tried to get tickets for a Broadway show in New York, you probably know how expensive these tickets can be. It's easy to spend $80 to $100 on one ticket while in the Big Apple. So what's a theater fanatic to do?

Instructions

1. Decide which Broadway shows you want to see, and make a list. You need a back-up plan in case you don't get your first-choice tickets.

2. Travel to the TKTS booth. This is truly where the early bird gets the worm. The TKTS is where Broadway shows sell a portion of their same-day tickets to help boost their sales. Tickets can get as low as half price, and many times you can get great seats! I got tickets to "Avenue Q" for even less than half price, and they were sixth-row center seats. Absolutely incredible. Not all tickets are that good, but it gives you an idea of what's available. TKTS booths can be located temporarily in Time Square at the Marriott Marquis while the Duffy Square is being renovated, and also at West 46th Street between Broadway and 8th Ave.

3. Beat the crowds. When I went we had a serious line. Your best bet is to show up at least an hour before the booths open. The hours are Monday through Saturday (for evening performances), 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday (for evening performances), 3 p.m. until 30 minutes before latest curtain time; Wednesday & Saturday (for matinee tickets), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Sunday (for matinee tickets), 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

4. Enjoy the show! There is no limit to how many times you can use TKTS, so if you have time after a matinee just hop back into line and grab tickets for an evening performance of another show.
